A group of displeased students this morning (April 5) blocked the door for the University of Guyana’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Planning and Development office with a large garbage bin.

The students’ also barricaded the Academic Affairs and Student’s Welfare offices hoping to send a strong message to the University’s Administration.

University of Guyana Student Society (UGSS) President, Joshua Griffith told News Room he “supports disturbance, but not destruction.”

According to him the reaction by the students may have stemmed from their growing concerns about the present conditions and other issues during their time at the Turkeyen Campus.

Yesterday (April 4) UGSS led a picketing exercise at the main Admission building of the University to highlight these very concerns, especially since their tuition fees have been increased.
