Investigations are being conducted into the murder of Bhagwattie Etwaroo, 50 years, of Rose Hall, Corentyne, which occurred about 17:30hrs yesterday Monday May 09, 2016, at her home.
Investigations so far have revealed that the now dead woman and her reputed husband were imbibing when an argument ensued between them and during which she was chopped about her body.
She was pronounced Dead on Arrival at the Port Mourant Hospital.
The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
According to information News Room received, eye witnesses said after the argument broke out, the woman jumped from the veranda, then the man was seen shortly after running down the stairs with a piece of wood, however he swapped that for a cutlass and chased the woman into a vacant room where he began chopping her to the head and other parts of her body.
The woman leaves to mourn her two children.
