Aliyah Abrams becomes fourth athlete to qualify for Rio Olympics

USA-based Guyanese athlete Aliyah Abrams become the fourth athlete from Guyana to qualify for the Rio Olympics.

 

The athlete out of South Carolina College clocked 52.04s to eclipse the qualifying standard of 52.20s in the 400 metres at the recently held SEC Championships.

 

The performance was a top ten all time performance for the college, placing Abrams at ninth all time.

Abrams now joins triple jumper, Troy Doris; sprinter, Brenessa Thompson and quarter-miler, Winston George as the only athletes so far to have qualified for the games.
