Four armed bandits early Monday morning invaded a restaurant at Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, and escaped with cash and other valuables.
The Detectives in ‘B’ Division are investigating the incident which occurred between 01:30h and 01:45 hours.
Investigations have so far revealed that the victim Lin Yu Qiang, 33 years, who operates a “Chinese Restaurant” at the bottom flat of the two storey building, was awaken by a noise in the restaurant and upon checking was confronted by four (4) masked men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a cutlass.
They then demanded cash and valuables.
The sum of $50,000, two laptop computers and a phone were handed over to the men who also ransacked the premises and escaped.
The occupant was injured to the back of his head with the gun, during a struggle.
The police responded promptly but no arrests have yet been made. The victim was taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
