Marijuana field destroyed: Duo arrested

Two men were today detained following a drug eradication that was conducted at Rockstone backlands in the upper Demerara River.

 

During the operation, half of an acre with approximately one thousand marijuana plants, along with three nurseries and in excess of fifty kilograms of dried cannabis were destroyed. The police set fire to the field of items. The plants it was reported ranged between one foot and six feet in height.

 

Those arrested are Jermaine Murray and Romel Toney.

 

Police sources when contacted said that the men are not known characters and were not charged for any past offences.

 

The police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
