Roraima Airways’ plane explosion leaves one injured

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) along with Roraima Airways Maintenance Quality Department is investigating an incident where a Britten Norman Trislander aircraft’s wing exploded at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport at Ogle, East Coast Demerara.

 

One of the Engineers suffered burns and is currently at the hospital.

 

A statement from owners of the aircraft; Roraima Airways, they noted that the Britten Norman Trislander aircraft was on the ground in the hangar, undergoing a routine maintenance inspection at the time and suffered damage to the right wing.

 

The statement added that saff at the airport, utilised the fire-fighting equipment in the Hangar, negating any further injury or damage.

 

According to reports, one person is suffering from trauma. The Airline said “We are currently arranging counselling for the maintenance team and all team members affected.”
Temporary inability to use the aircraft will pose difficulties, however flight operations will suffer no significant disruption the company said.
