During a brief interview with News Room, the REO, Ovid Morrison noted that “the purpose was to sensitize the contractors of our approach for 2017″.

Morrison further explained that “what we (the RDC) hope to achieve, I would say fulfilment of our expectation that the standard of work we (the RDC) receive from the contractors is in keeping with our expectations”. He added that the Council will demand and ensure that the contractors deliver quality service.

He outlined that the main concerns raised by the contractors are allegations of discrimination and having to pay “bribes” in order to be given contracts.

He pointed out, “we wanted to assure them that this team here is going to be as transparent as possible, in dealing with contractors”.

The REO pointed out that efforts will be made to ensure that the budding contractors who are not knowledgeable of the tender process are not stifled.

Mr. Morrison has only taken up office approximately three weeks ago.

The former REO, Roderick Edinboro, was recently transferred to the Region Seven RDC following allegations of performing his duties to the dissatisfaction of the RDC.
