UPDATE: 17-year-old among suspects confessed to murdering Black Bush trio

A farmer, his 17-year-old son and an employee of the man has confessed to murdering 33-year-old Naresh Rooplall, 37-year-old Pawan Chandradai aka Suresh and his 15-year-old son, Jaikarran Chandradai aka Kevin last week.

 

“To date we have four persons in custody. Three family members and one employee of one of the family members that is a farmer, and so far we have obtained confession statements from the prime suspects” Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told News Room.

He said the police are currently searching for a fourth person.

 

In an exclusive interview on Thursday afternoon, Blanhum said “the suspects today returned to the scene and they showed the investigators the area where they confronted the victims and other details as to what exactly transpired.”

Turing to the motive for the murder, he said “based on what was told to us is that the suspects went to a nearby farm and their intention was to steal fuel. In the process of stealing the fuel, they encountered the victims and eventually they resorted to killing them.”

 

He disclosed that the investigators also spoke to the owner of the fuel which the men went to thief. The man confirmed that he had frequent attacks by criminal elements.

 

The suspects were brought to Georgetown on Wednesday for intense questioning.

 

The file has not yet been sent to the DPP for advice as the investigation is still ongoing.
