The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) said internet connectivity to airlines in Guyana which was caused by a failure of the Americas-11 cable system near the shore of Martinique, was restored at 14:30 hrs today.

On Monday the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) stated that the damaged cable led to its Automated Airlines Check-in services being down which resulted in passengers being processed manually. This problem led to several flights being delayed.

A back up system was provided to the airline reservation system SITA and service was restored.

The telecommunications company had previously stated it has redundant infrastructure and is working with the airline reservation management system, SITA to migrate to redundant routes.
