News Room previously reported that 17-year-old Handel Daniels of Caracasville, West Canje Berbice was killed on Thursday evening, allegedly by a shotgun he was carrying after the step he was descending collapsed. The incident occurred at Cathrinaburg, Canje Creek. The report has stated that teh shotgun was not retrieved.
In a statement today, the police said a shotgun was retrieved in a boat, next to the scene.
Following the incident, Daniels who is a farmer was picked up by an unknown individual and handed over to a neighbourhood police officer.
He was rushed to the Barakara Health Centre by a Neighborhood Police and was referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where a Doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.
The body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem as investigations continue.
