Plaisance crowned Banks DIH Limited/ABSAA U-13 champions

Plaisance won the inaugural Banks DIH Limited/Alex Bunbury Sports and Academics Academy (ABSAA) Under-13 football championship after edging West Ruimveldt B on sudden death penalty kicks at the Parade ground, Georgetown, last weekend.

 

With the score locked at 0-0 at full-time, the East Coast unit prevailed over their counterparts by a 4-3 score line. With the victory, Plaisance walked away with the championship trophy and the winners’ medals, while West Ruimveldt B pocketed the second place accolade and the respective medals. In the third-place playoff, Tiger Bay downed Eastville, also by a 4-3 score line, after regulation time ended 0-0.

 

For their effort, Tiger Bay walked away with the respective trophy and medals. Azandee King of Plaisance was awarded the event’s Most Valuable Player, while Kevon Mullings of Tiger Bay copped the Highest Goal Scorer accolade.

In the semi-final rounds, Plaisance sealed their berth in the final after edging Tiger Bay 4-3, while West Ruimveldt B progressed to the finale with a 10-9 sudden death win after normal time ended scoreless in their match with Eastville. In the earlier quarter-finals, Eastville defeated Tucville 2-0; Tiger Bay beat Grove 1-0; Plaisance edged Kingston 2-1; and West Ruimveldt B gained a walk over from Wortmanville.
Apart from Banks DIH Limited, the tournament was supported by the Guyana Football Federation, GECOM, Samuel Bunbury, James Paul of the USA, Puran Brothers Disposal, Guinness Bar, Donna Shop, Frontline Hardware Store of Plaisance and Trophy Stall.
