Elderly females robbed and beaten in Port Mourant home

Several robberies have plagued the ancient county, Berbice with the most recent being a Robbery Under Arms committed on 57 -year-old  Emileen Jas Cyril and 81-year-old Malawattie Ramcharran at 18:00hs on Monday.

 

The incident took place at Lot 301 Ankerville, Port Mourant.

 

The 57 -year- old woman said as she was about to retire to bed two men armed with knives pounced on her inside her home.

She related that the men told her not to scream and one of the attackers stuck her with a knife.

 

They then proceeded to hit her on the forehead shortly before snatching the pair of earrings she had on from her ears. The woman said she became unconscious at that point, as she cannot recall what happened thereafter.

 

After regaining consciousness, the woman told News Room she began to yell for her granddaughter who resides at the home. The other occupant, 81-year-old Malawattie Ramcharran then related that the men had left, but not before taking her two gold rings.

 

Cyril said she no longer feels safe, even though it was the first time she was robbed.

 

The matter was reported to the Whim Police Station and two 25-year-olds, Mahendra Gahin and Micheal Tolsidat, also of Ankerville, Port Mourant were arrested as suspects.

 

Meanwhile, Andy Schultz age 32, a pump operator of 543 Maimi Dam Angoy’s Avenue has reported to police that on August 15 he discovered that his 13- seater boat and 140 Yahama outboard engine valued at $955,000 were missing.

 

Investigations are ongoing.
