Guyanese through to QF’s of Caribbean Junior Badminton

The Caribbean Badminton Championships (CAREBACO) is underway at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall in Aruba with all the Guyanese players making it to the quarter-finals.

 

In the Under-19 Singles, the Guyanese were all awarded walkover wins, as their opponents from the Dominican Republic were not present at the tournament due to flight problems.

 

Number one seed Narayan Ramdhani got a bye in the first round and was awarded a walkover from Yonatan Linarez of the Dominican Republic in the second round, which took him straight to the quarter-finals, while Jonathan Mangra was awarded a walkover from Bryan Anderson Castro of the Dominican Republic in the first round and defeated Jade Allman of Trinidad and Tobago 21-14, 21-18 in the second.

 

Priyanna Ramdhani received a walkover from Nairoby Abigail Jimenez of the Dominican Republic in the first round to book her quarter-finals.

 

In the Under-19 Mixed Doubles, Narayan Ramdhani and  Priyanna Ramdhani of Guyana defeated siblings Efraim Van Der Linden and Thirsa Van Der Linden of Aruba 21-5, 21-3 to reach the quarter-finals.

 

Countries competing in the championship are Aruba, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Suriname and Guyana.
