A post mortem conducted today on the body of 14-year-old, Akeem Grimmond of Number 61 Village, who was discovered yesterday face down in a shallow drain, has revealed that he died of suffocation.

The teen’s step -father, Ryan Persaud related to News Room that  on Saturday around 18:30 hrs he was awoken by his wife who told him that she could not locate the young man, who would normally be home at that time.

This prompted a search which proved futile and a missing report was filed.

According to the step-father, he warned his son regarding venturing into the back dam and expressed concern about some of his company, since they were “known characters.”

After the teen went missing the Persaud informed the police of a suspect and Terani Goolsarran aka “Brozer” who is in his early 20’s was taken into custody.

The grieving step-father is calling for justice noting that, “people like this you should not have in the streets they should be locked away”. He said, “my son is not a bad boy, he don’t leave home and go anywhere he does normally be home by 7:00 in the night, he goes to church, willing child”.

Meanwhile, the mother of the dead teen said she has no courage to remain in her home since her son died.

Akeem attended the Bushlot Secondary School and would have entered the fourth form in September.

Divisional Commander Ian Amsterdam told media operatives that there has been no major breakthrough as yet but one is expected soon.
