Traffic officer injured as stray animals continue to cause accidents

A Traffic Officer was this morning rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after he collided with an animal which ran into the path of his motorcycle.

 

According to information received, the accident occurred at about 8:30 hours on the #2 Public Road, Corentyne when the traffic officer who was allegedly driving his motor bike at a fast rate collided with a cow.

 

This led to him losing control of the Cycle and ending up in a nearby canal. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The injured officer’s name was given as Mc Donald.

 

Ranks in Berbice are currently trying to locate the owner of the animal as investigations into the matter continue.

 

Meanwhile, a police source told the News Room that the stray catcher campaign which was launched by the previous Government is no longer in operation in Berbice, hence stray animals are often seen patrolling the public road.
