The ruling in the case against Former Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsaran has been pushed back for a third time following an order from the New Amsterdam High Court on Monday September 26, 2016.

Magistrate Artiga who presided over the matter was expected to hand down the decision in the matter today, but instead it was put off until November 21, 2016.

This decision has raised concerns among several groups, who have questioned the High Court’s interference into matters being tried in the Magistrates’ Court.

The Former Health Minister is accused of using insulting language towards Women’s Rights Activist, Sherlina Nageer on Monday, April 20, 2015, while outside the Whim Magistrate’s Court.

When the case was called on the first occasion, Ramsaran’s lawyers had moved to the High Court to have the matter thrown out.

The lawyers had stated that after perusing the documents their client is convinced that the prosecution has not gathered enough information related to the charge, based on the statements that were supplied to the defense.

However that matter was dismissed.
