Board Member of the Guyana Oil and Gas Association (GOGA), Nigel Hughes, two days after the launch of the professional organization has today come forward to reassure Guyanese of the integrity of the GOGA.

This statement became necessary after the Kaieteur Newspaper published a front page article in which it alleged that President and Chief Executive officer of the Association, Bobby Gossai Junior would have engaged in corrupt acts during his previous employment.

Hughes in a short statement says “the Board of Directors of GOGA was unaware of the specific contents of the Audit Report referred to in the article” but “has since secured a copy of the Audit Report and will be considering the contents of the report as a matter of urgency.”

The statement further clarifies that the Junior Gossai was retained by the Board of Directors of GOGA as Chief Executive Officer and his employment is part of the start-up process and he is currently on a probationary period.” This period has not yet come to an end, he said.

The Kaieteur News report stated that a forensic audit report of the Gold Board fingered Gossai in several corrupt acts. In one instance, Gossai is accused of being involved in a clear case of forgery.
