Pedal cyclist killed in road accident

Clement Skeet, age 60 died last evening while receiving treatment at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

 

The pensioner who was at the time riding his pedal cycle was struck down by a motorcar on the Bagostville Public Road. The vehicle was being driven by a member of the Guyana Fire Service, Clyde Scipio.

 

The News Room was informed that Skeet who was reportedly was riding across the road from west to east and ended up into the path of a motor car which was proceeding south along the eastern driveway. He was allegedly flung from his cycle several feet into the air, before landing on the road. He was immediately picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

 

The accident took place at approximately 19.30 hrs last evening.

 

The driver was taken into custody at the La Grange Police Station immediately after the accident. There has been no report of the fireman driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
