Guyana International Volunteer Effort inviting persons to join its Tuesdays Seawall clean-up
Local organization, Guyana International Volunteer Effort (GIVE) is inviting all of Guyana to join their once weekly clean up initiative along the Georgetown stretch of the Seawalls.
The group meets every Tuesday between 17:00 and 18:00 hours to clean up along the Seawalls starting in the area of the bandstand and concluding at the beach outside the Guyana Marriott.
News Room caught up with GIVE’s Vice President, Susan Isaacs, who told us that GIVE would have begun its clean up exercises since in January but it only became registered as a group in July.
Volunteers would frequently come out in their numbers from school children to seniors.
These clean ups also take into consideration the safety of the volunteers and as such, all of the necessary tools are provided by the organisation.
And the Guyana International Volunteer Effort is looking forward to working with corporate Guyana to enhance the surroundings of the seawalls.
“We recently put out eight bins, one, unfortunately has gone missing already…and we are looking to work with Corporate Guyana to put out many many more bins and benches, lighting, just to enhance the seawall here. It I such a part of Guyana’s heritage.
