UPDATE; Second suspect arrested for Mahaicony businesswoman’s murder

Police in ‘C’ Division have arrested a second suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a Novar, Mahaicony Businesswoman whose body was discovered in her home at around 6:00hrs on Monday, October 17, 2016.

 

According to a usually reliable police source, a 24-year-old fisherman from Rosignol, West Coast Berbice was arrested late yesterday after his name was given to the police as being in the company of the 14-year-old who was previously arrested in connection with the murder.

 

The 14-year-old was arrested on Monday morning after neighbours informed the police that he and the businesswoman had a heated argument several days prior to her death over coconuts.

 

56-year-old Bibi Ally of lot 6 Novar, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara was discovered by her nephew with her hands tied and feet tied along with marks of violence about her body.

 

Divisional Commander Marlon Chapman had disclosed that it is not clear what is the motive behind the murder but noted that when police arrived on the scene, the house was ransacked.

 

Investigations are currently ongoing.
