As of December 31, 2015, Guyana’s external debt stood at GYD $236 billion while the nation’s domestic debt stood at GYD $81.7 billion.
This is according to the first annual report on Public Debt Management presented for Cabinet’s approval on Tuesday.
In keeping with international best practices, Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan on Tuesday submitted the report which will soon be tabled in the National Assembly.
During a Press conference on Friday, Minister of State, Joseph Harmon said, “it was felt the report itself promotes transparency in debt management and good governance in the country.”
Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan at a recent Press Conference affirmed that Guyana is on schedule with all of its payments.
