According to Mootoo after he grabbed his cutlass and was running back up the stairs he was stopped in his tracks by two gunshots. Mootoo said he immediately ran back down the stairs but heard his sister-in-law scream for help; however he remained downstairs, while the men demanded cash from her.

His sister-in-law said the men ransacked the place and tore stuffed animals apart in search of  the cash.

The reign of terror by the bandits was cut short after they heard the police approaching. They escaped through the broken window but not after retrieving two Samsung Galaxy S5 phones along with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Mootoo told the News Room that his sister-in-law confirmed that there were two masked men, one armed with a gun. They used a 4×4 piece of wood to break the window.

Meanwhile, police sources confirmed that two spent shells were recovered from the scene and the weapon likely used is a point 32 caliber, 9mm pistol.

Investigations are ongoing.
