Police seeking assistance to identify alleged bandit (WARNING; Graphic police image)

The Guyana Police Force is seeking the assistance of members of the public in identifying a male who was shot and killed by a licensed firearm holder on Tuesday at Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.

 

The young man was shot and killed and one of his alleged accomplices arrested by the police when they attempted to enter the man’s home. According to a police source, the alleged accomplice was picked up in the area but not at the scene of the incident and has not provided any information thus far.

 

The News Room was informed that the man was asleep when he heard a strange sound coming from one of his doors and upon investigating he saw the men attempting to open his door. He also saw an object which appeared to be a firearm in the hand of one of the men, prompting him to open fire. The alleged bandit was killed on the spot, while the police who responded promptly managed to capture the second one, however, the third fled.

 

The incident took place around 02:30 hrs.

 

The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home.
