It was noted that the name was chosen as Hugh Desmond Hoyte, former member of the Peoples National Congress/Reform (PNC/R) was one of the first patrons of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club.

Foster said “one of the main focus of the recreational park is for families to come out and relax together and develop social cohesion among residents of Rose Hall and we are hoping also that by getting families to come out here it will help reduce the drug abuse, suicide and crime rate in the community”.

Over its 25 years of existence, the club has completed over 6000 projects.

“Currently the park has a benab which is one of the biggest in Berbice, this as done with the assistance of the assistant commissioner of police David Ramnarine who donated 75% of the materials to have the benab completed, the park also have swings, slides, seesaw and other fun materials” the president added.
