(Trinidad Express) Four-year-old Jenice Figaro who police were told died after eating a meal of French fries last week Thursday was actually beaten to death.
That was the finding of a post mortem performed at the Forensic Science Centre by pathologist Dr Easlyn McDonald-Burris on Tuesday.
The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma. Little Jenice was severely beaten on the head and abdomen.
Her father, Robert Figaro, said he was distraught by the finding. “I cannot believe this. It is very bad. This is terrible,” he said.
Figaro, 36, said he was not aware that his daughter was being abused. “I saw her hit my daughter once and I threatened to leave. My child never complained about being beaten,” he cried.
Homicide officers have launched a manhunt for a mother of two who vanished on the night Jenice died.
