Teenagers arrested with marijuana

Two teens were arrested at separate locations in Berbice for having a quantity of marijuana in their possession on December 01, 2016.

News Room understands that 18-year-old Devanand Bansee of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D) was arrested at Wellington Park on the Corentyne while  19-year-old Rajesh Seecharran of Hampshire Village was arrested at Rose Hall Town.

According to information received, traffic ranks were on mobile patrol when they stopped motor car HC 5444and carried out a search on Bansee who was acting in a suspicious manner. During the search, ranks found eight parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana in his pants pocket.

Bansee was informed of the offence committed and was arrested and taken to the Whim Police Station, where the suspected drug was weighed and amounted to 100 grams.

Meanwhile after receiving a tip off, ranks from the Rose Hall Police outpost went to a shop at Rose Hall Town to conduct a search for drug but found nothing. However, Seecharran who was at the shop at the time dropped a sliver packet on the ground which was picked up by the ranks who discovered a quantity of marijuana wrapped inside.

Seecharran was arrested and taken to the Rose Hall Police Outpost pending charges.
