Guyana Jaguars present signed shirt to ‘Reds’

Members of the Guyana Jaguars team on Monday afternoon presented a signed jersey to renowned Guyanese cricket commentator, Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira, who was doing his final game between the Guyana Jaguars and Barbados Pride at the National Stadium, Providence.

The jersey was presented to the 77-year-old ‘Reds’ by Jaguars skipper Leon Johnson in the presence of his team during a brief handing over on the Providence turf.

The message on the jersey read: “Thank you ‘Reds’ for your great service to Guyana and West Indies cricket. 50 years of excellence.” The jersey bears the autographs of the Guyana Jaguars players.

Reds’ started radio commentary in 1961 and developed a reputation for being very insightful and knowledgeable about the game. Born in Pomeroon, ‘Reds’ spent most of his life in Guyana, but of recent has been living in St Lucia, where is working to develop not just cricket, but several other disciplines.
