Logos Hope to dock tomorrow; water purifiers to be distributed in Pomeroon

The Logos Hope Two, dubbed the world’s largest floating book fair will docking in Port Georgetown tomorrow (Tuesday December 20, 2016) at the Guyana National Shipping, La Penitence Wharf, however the official opening is on December 22, 2016.

During a press conference today (Monday December 19, 2016) the Project Manager revealed that as part of its mission to Guyana water purifiers will be distributed in the Pomeroon, since they were informed that the residents there are in the need of clean drinking water.

Assisted by 20 local volunteers the team from the Logos Hope Two would assist with the distribution of water purifiers in the Pomeroon, distribution of reading glasses, and maintenance of local orphanages as well as visiting the prisons.

This information was divulged by Project Manager Bernadine Tan, who noted that the goal is to not only provide books but to bring critical information to as many persons in the thousands of countries the ship is privileged to dock in.

The aim of the Logos Hope is to share the love of God in a tangible way, where the impact could be felt by all those who have benefited.

Miss Tan noted that the books offered are oftentimes not readily available in many of the countries.

Project Coordinator Boyd Srisakunphaet said the Logos Hope offers the opportunity for locals to share in the cultural diversity of its crew, which consists of 400 members from some 60 Nationalities from across the world.

The Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships, an international Charitable Organization registered in Germany. Since 1970 the organization says it has welcomed over 45 million visitors in over 150 countries and territories around the world.

The ship is expecting its 6 millionth visitor in Guyana and that person could be anyone who visits the ship.

The Logos Hope will be docked from December 22 to January 8, 2017. Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 8:00pm, Sundays from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, however it will be closed on Christmas day, December 25.On Old Year’s Day, December 31 it will be opened from 10:00am to 2:00pm and closed for New Year’s Day.

Entrance fee is $100 GYD per person. Adults over 65 are free and children under 12, but must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available on board the Logos Hope or at the Giftland Mall. Interested persons can also visit the official website at www.logoshope.org/georgetown.
