Body of West Coast Berbice man found in canal

The partially submerged body of a Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (W.C.B) man was discovered floating by a passerby in a canal at #11 Village, W.C.B on Tuesday, January 03, 2016.

He has been identified as 54-year-old Nilidharry Ramgobin.

News Room understands that the man was last seen alive by his brother on Monday, January 02, 2017 in the village where he lives at about 10:00 hours. His body was discovered at about 14:30 hours on Tuesday facing downwards in the canal.

The brother of the deceased told police that Ramgobin is an alcoholic and that he would usually be seen in an abandoned house in the village.

When the police arrived on the scene, they removed the body from the canal and examined it for marks of violence but none was seen. He was then taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Presently Ramgobin’s body is at the Anthony’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem.
