Man and mother arrested after gun find

The police in ‘B’ Division have detained a 22-year-old man and his 52-year-old mother after a weapon was found at their Tucber Park Home in New Amsterdam Berbice.

The News Room was told that following information received, a search was carried out on the property earlier today (Wednesday, January 18, 2017) where the weapon, a .32 automatic War Chester Pistol was found behind a fowl pen in the yard.

Additionally, the 22-year-old was found hiding behind the fowl pen, about eight feet away from where the pistol was found.

Police sources in Berbice have identified the 22-year-old as Koneta Timothy while his mother was identified as 52-year-old Ms. Gaskin.

The police did not find any matching rounds to go with the weapon.

The man is presently in custody at the Reliance Police Station while the police are moving to send the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Investigations are ongoing.
