Calvin Ming starts 2017 with win in Mexico

Guyana’s F4 driver Calvin Ming was outstanding in Mexico on Saturday, winning his race in the FIA NACAM F4 Series. Ming completed the mandatory 17 laps in 26:01.252 seconds, six seconds faster than teammate Manuel Sulaiman, who clocked 26:07.915 seconds.

Ming also had the fastest lap time of 1:29.776 seconds. Reports out of Mexico indicate that Ming drove a very good race, applying a well thought out strategy, and winning convincingly.

Each race is run for 25 minutes or 17 laps of the Merida circuit, which is 3.4km in length and the average lap time is one minute, 30 seconds. According to information received, the top speed recorded on Saturday was 210kph.

Earlier in the day, the Guyanese qualified in pole position for the race with a lap time of 01:28.247 seconds, one second faster that Sulaiman’s 01:29.259. Ming will be in action again on Sunday on the brand new track, which is hosting its first-ever event.
