A top-class bowling effort, supported by a solid batting performance took Guyana Jaguars past the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) Marooners by eight wickets in the Super50 on Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. It was the Jaguars first win in three games, after losing by 145 runs to Barbados Pride and 41 runs to Jamaica Scorpions.

Competing in the day/night Group B game, Jaguars’ bowlers skittled out Marooners for 129 in 44.5 overs, before the Jaguars batsmen coasted to victory at 130-2 in 26.3 overs.

Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul was the top bowler with 3-19 off 10 overs, while fast bowler Ronsford Beaton had 2-23 off eight and leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo 2-28 off 7.5 overs.

After hitting two fours off the first over, opener Assad Fudadin was dismissed halfway through the third over for eight, before opener Rajendra Chandrika and Raymon Reifer combined contrasting efforts in a partnership of 117 to lead the Jaguars to victory.

While Reifer struck a run-a-ball 67 (9x4s, 1×6) and was dismissed with just five runs required for the win, Chandrika dropped anchor. His unbeaten 43 spanned 76 balls, 50 of which were dots. Chandrika struck five fours.
