Body of Estate worker found in Berbice River

The body of a 30-year –old man was this morning (Tuesday, February 14, 2017) fished out of the Berbice River.

It was revealed that the man, an Estate worker of Heath Burn Village, East Bank Berbice left his mother’s home on Monday February 13, 2017, where he was consuming alcohol and went with friends to catch fish and swim in the Berbice River.

However, moments later, Ramesh Seegolam could not be found. According to information received, his mother was alerted of the situation at about 17:00 hours after which she informed the police.

News Room was told that a search was conducted but the search party could not locate Seegolam.

His body washed up at about 10:00 hours today (Tuesday, February 14, 2017) not far from where he and his friends were swimming and fishing.

Relatives are not buying the story that Seegolam drowned as he was described as a good swimmer.
