The 2017 edition of the Limacol Football tournament is shaping up to be highly competitive after the final night of group action at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Linden.

In latest action, Eagles got a big 3-0 win against New Amsterdam United that allowed them to finish second in their group. Eagles played well and used their passing to undo New Amsterdam with different players getting in on the action.

Kendolph Lewis was the first to score in the eighth minute, followed by Kurt Johnson in the 70th minute of the match. Kelon Primo’s 87th minute goal sealed the deal for Eagles, who will have a crack in the quarter-finals on Sunday against Winners Connection, who finished top of their group.

The loss for New Amsterdam made them the only team to lose all three of their group matches, while Den Amstel and Western Tigers were the only two teams to win all three of their games.

Meanwhile, in the feature game, Winners Connection and defending champs, Milerock, played to a nil-all draw. The draw between the two Linden sides means that Winners Connection, as stated earlier, qualified at the top of their group, while Milerock finished second.

The quarter-finals are now set and Winners Connection and Eagles will battle on Sunday in Linden, while Milerock and Western Tigers will battle in the second match of the evening.

The second set of quarter-final matches will also take place on Sunday, but at the Victoria Community ground with Police taking on Den Amstel, while Mahaica Determinators will battle Santos. Start time for all matches is 19:00h.
