E.B.D. man killed in W.C.D. accident

A man was killed last night (Thursday, February 23, 2017) after he was struck down by a vehicle on the La Grange public road.

The News Room has been informed that Rajesh Ramotar, 42 years old had just exited his vehicle and was standing on the roadway when a speeding car slammed into his vehicle before hitting him.

Ramotar who is said to be from Eccles on the East Bank of Demerara was quickly picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (W.D.R.H) where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle was promptly taken into the custody and the police also administered a breathalyzer test on him. However, the result of that test was not disclosed to the News Room.

The investigations into this accident are ongoing.

This is the third reported accident to have occurred within a four-hour span on Thursday night.

Just after midnight on Thursday, a minibus slammed into a culvert causing several persons to be hospitalised while sometime after 03:00hrs, a police Lance corporal was injured and remain unresponsive after he slammed into a garage; both on the East Coast Demerara.
