A local company that provides professional care for adults and children who have varying therapeutic and other conditions that require intervention is celebrating its second anniversary by giving back to those in need.

“Making a difference…Because we care,” is the motto of Pro Care Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services.

The company offers speech and language therapy, physical and massage therapy to both children and adults. It also has a special education unit and provides family counseling.

Candace Wickham– CEO/Founder ProCare

Chief Executive Officer and Founder Candace Wickham speaking exclusively with the News Room on Friday at her 261 Forshaw and New Garden Streets, Queenstown, Georgetown office said ProCare is awarding two scholarships to children with special needs, providing two free massages and free consultations and assessment for physical therapy, among other giveaways.

She explained that the idea of ProCare was birthed after observing there was a lack of these services and intervention for special needs individuals in Guyana. Wickham said over the two years ProCare has outgrown its current space; she, therefore aspires to secure another location to facilitate more persons.

For persons who wish to sponsor a child for early intervention, the young CEO said there is the “Sponsor a Child Programme.” There is also an “Internship to Leadership” initiative which allows young professionals in the field to do an internship programme at ProCare then graduate into the leadership role.

As the CEO she is optimistic that she can have a group of professionals to take lead roles so that her vision for the organization is fully realized.

Pro Care currently has four special needs tutors, a physical therapist, a speech and language therapist, an occupational therapist and a massage therapist.
