Berbice defeated arch-rivals Demerara by five wickets to lift the Guyana Cricket Board, Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 Inter-county title on Sunday at the Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda.
Batting first, Demerara made just 90 in 44.5 overs with Mahindra Dindyal making 24. Bowling for Berbice, off-spinner Marvan Prashad bagged 3-14, while fellow off-spinner Daniel Dharamdat had 2-13 and Akash Heralall and Gourav Ramesh 2-17 and 2-24 respectively.
Berbice found themselves in some early trouble during the run-chase, before Prashad and Asif Amoi came together to halt the slide. The pair added 51 in an unbroken partnership for the sixth wicket to seal the win for the visiting team.
Prashad crowned a fine day with an unbeaten 38, copping the Man-of-the-Match prize in the process, while Amoi was not out on 24 when victory came in 39.2 overs.
