Two on the run for raping school girl

The Police in ‘B’ Division are hunting for two men who are accused of raping a 14-year-old West Coast Berbice girl at a shop, on Tuesday.

According to information received, although the incident took place on Tuesday, it was only reported to the police on Thursday (March 23, 2017), after which an investigation was launched.

News Room understands that at about 21:45 hours on Tuesday (March 21, 2017), the 14-year-old schoolgirl left her home to visit a mall at Rosignol on the West Bank of Berbice, where she met the two suspects who are known to her.

News Room was told that the two suspects then invited the teen to a shop at Cotton Tree Village on the West Coast of Berbice where they sexually assaulted the teen.

Following a report at the Fort Wellington Police Station, the 14-year-old was escorted to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where she was examined by a doctor and received a certificate confirming that she was sexually assaulted.

Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
