Nelle Grimmond of Happy Acres, East Cast Demerara was killed on the spot last night (Sunday, April 09, 2017) by a speeding vehicle which subsequently drove away.
The 21-year-old woman was reportedly attempting to cross the road when the accident took place.
According to persons who are familiar with the woman, she was on her way home and had moments before the crash, disembarked a minibus a short distance from the corner to her home.
It is suspected that the vehicle which hit Grimmond, was proceeding east along the public road when the accident took place. After hitting the woman, the vehicle, however, fled the scene.
The woman was picked up after the accident and rushed to the Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police in ‘C’ Division found broken lights, believed to be from the vehicle which caused the accident but have not been able to locate the driver nor the vehicle.
The investigations are ongoing.
