Woman sentenced to 3 years in prison for cocaine bust at Airport

A 51-year-old woman was sentenced to three years in prison and fined $4.1M, for the possession of cocaine.

51-year-old Bernadette Evadeny Warren of lot 228 Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown was busted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) with cocaine in her suitcase on Sunday last, (April 16, 2017).

According to information received, a search was conducted on the woman’s luggage and it was found that the suitcase had false compartments.

Custom Anti- Narcotics Unit Ranks discovered some 1.504 kilograms of the illegal substance in the luggage.

The woman who only received her United States Visa earlier this year was on her first trip to the United States.

In the past, several persons have been busted for possession of cocaine which they intended to take to the United States.
