Developing Story: Passengers, Crew stranded in Essequibo River after boat develops difficulty.

A passenger boat loaded with passengers after departing the Supenaam Stelling is said to have developed difficulty after it began taking in water, leaving the crew and all on-board stranded. Fortunately, News Room was told that the crew managed to get the boat to the river bank.

News Room was told that the incident took place in the Hogg Island area in the Essequibo River. However, the circumstances that resulted in the incident remain unknown at this time.

News Room also understands that another vessel is en-route to the location to ensure that the passengers are transferred to another vessel and taken to their destination safely.

There are no reports of injury at this point. The Coast Guard was also immediately informed of the development and was preparing to be dispatched to the location.
