Companies, which have shown concerted efforts to ensure that their employees work in environments free from hazards and risks to their health and well-being, were recognized.

The awards ceremony and lecture is a collaborative effort between NACOSH and the Ministry of Social Protection. The applicants were judged on their joint workplace Health and Safety Committees and the involvement of their workers in the decision-making process.

Judges looked at whether the companies possessed well-articulated policy statements and formulated plans and programmes which promoted the sustenance of safety and health in the workplace.

Accident statistics were also analyzed to determine if there were any significant achievements made over the preceding year. For the individuals who applied for the OSH award, judges looked at the body of publications and implemented programmes that address OSH.

The aim of the event is to encourage all companies to lift their environmental standards and improve the conditions under which people work and serve.
