BEN PARAG to perform at Dharmic Sabha’s Arrival Day Celebrations.

Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, May 04, 2017– The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha will be holding countrywide activities to commemorate the 179th Anniversary of Indian Arrival in Guyana.

On Saturday, May 6th, the Sabha will be presenting a special Concert at the Dharmic Kendra in Prashad Nagar featuring young descendants of Indentured immigrants who are excelling in the performing arts,  BenParag, VishalieSukram and the Dharmic NirtyaSangh.

19-year-old Ben Parag has been in the limelight recently for having made it to the top 6 in Star Plus Television’s Music and Singing Competition “DilHai Hindustani” in India. Ben is the first person of Guyanese origin to have enjoyed such success in any singing and television show in India. The show was judged by top personalities of the Bollywood Indian music and film industry and featured many popular guests including Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan and Akshay Kumar. Ben was enthusiastically praised by the judges and guests of the show. Ben was born in New York. His parents are from Black Bush Polder in Berbice and he is extremely excited to be performing in Guyana for the Sabha’s Indian Arrival Events.  He developed an interest in music at an early age and has been training with Gurus Kinnar and Payan Seen in New York.

Also performing on May 6th are Emerging Voices Season One winner Vishalie Sukram and the Sabha’s dance troupe, Dharmic NrityaSangh, popular for their spectacular performances at Naya Zamana.

Tickets for the event cost $3000 and includes dinner.  These are on sale at the Dharmic Kendra and Red Mango or can be obtained by calling 227-6181 or 219-1900. All proceeds go towards the Sabha’sDharmic Rama Krishna School Expansion project.

The Sabhahas organised Indian Arrival Anniversary celebrations featuring marches, exhibitions and rich cultural programmes across the country. On Monday, May 1st, the West Coast BerbicePraantheld their event at the Bath Shri Krishna Mandir. On Friday, May 5th, programmes will be held by the East Coast DemeraraPraant at the Helena No. 2 Cricket Ground in Mahaica at 1pm and by the West DemeraraPraant at the OceanviewMandir Compound at 6pm. On Sunday May 7th, the Essequibo Praant’s event will be held at Anna Regina Community Centre Ground at 1pm while Central CorentynePraant’sprogramme will be held at Albion Community Centre Ground at 4pm. The final event will be held on May 7th by the Upper CorentynePraant at Crabwood Creek Road End and this will feature both Ben Parag and Vishalie, whose parents are from Upper Corentyne.
