Shamar Klass, a 17-year-old resident of North East La Penitence, Georgetown was yesterday (Monday, May 08, 2017) busted with thirty grams of leaves, seeds and stems of cannabis, which detectives said he had for the purpose of trafficking.

What struck the police, however, is that the teenager who hails from Georgetown and was found in the Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice (EBB), was fully decked out in a Guyana Defence Force Uniform.

The police who were patrolling in the Housing Scheme saw the man acting in a suspicious manner and they decided to carry out a search on his person.

At the time he was also wearing a haversack which the police also searched and it was in there that they found the illegal substance.

After the items were found, the teenager was cautioned and told of the offence, he reportedly told the patrol ranks that the items were placed in his bag by his brother.

The News Room was, however, unable to confirm if the brother is a member of the Guyana Defence Force.

The young man is being processed for court and the items have been lodged.

The Police in Berbice have ramped up their operations in several communities based on the apparent concentration in those communities by persons who are bent on engaging in illegal activities.
