An in-form Bent Street looked unstoppable in their first group match on Sunday when the Xtreme Clean and Maintenance ‘Gold Rush’ Futsal tournament continued at the National Gymnasium. Bent Street got a 6-3 win against Plaisance in a full offensive blitz on the East Coast side that actually drew first blood in the third minute through Warren Gilkes.

A quick equaliser by Sheldon Profit in the fourth minute opened the flood gates for Bent Street and even though Kester Greene scored a double for Plaisance in the 12th and 17th minutes it was not enough.

Job Caesar led the way for Bent Street with a double in the fifth and 18th, while Kanata Manning also had a double in the 11th and 16th minutes. The other scorer was Travis Lyken in the in the 15th minute.

Meanwhile, Sparta Boss had a tough outing with a one-all draw against Agricola Champion Boys. Agricola’s physical play was a big factor throughout the match, especially after Lloyd Matthews scored in the fifth minute for Agricola.

However, a quick equaliser by Devon Millington in the sixth minute ended the goals for the night as both sides found it difficult to score for the remainder of the game. Future Stars also had a good outing as the young and upcoming squad topped top futsal side Broad Street Bullies 2-0.

The pace was simply too much for Broad Street, especially as the match wore on. Future Stars scored in quick succession with Kerron Solomon opening the game with a goal in the 17th minute, while Akeemo Anthony scored a minute later.

In other results, Albouystown topped Back Circle 3-1 with Roy Cossou scoring a double in the 12th and 16th minutes, while Tucville and Sophia drew 1-1. The final match of the night also saw a tame draw with North Ruimveldt and Tiger Bay failing to score.

The tournament will continue with more group action on June 6 at the National Gymnasium.
