Jamaican Police values Cocaine at $90M found in shipments from Guyana, Suriname

KINGSTON, Jamaica —The police have revised upwards the value of the drugs seized at Gordon Cay at the Kingston Container Terminal on Wednesday to $90 million.

The initial value of the 141 pounds of cocaine seized on two separate shipments from Guyana and Suriname was estimated at $77,216,000.

A release from the police’s Corporate Communication Unit on Monday afternoon (June 05, 2017) increased the estimated value to $90 million.

Reports from the police are that about 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, four containers shipped from Guyana and Suriname were searched and found to contain 56 parcels of cocaine weighing approximately 64 kilograms.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
