“We promise nothing short of excitement for CPL in Guyana 2017. GTT and the Guyana Amazon Warriors will blaze these Stands and Grass Mound on match days in full party mode,” Nedd told the gathering.

He continued, “We want everyone to embrace what it means to be an Amazon Warrior. We want you to be strong, courageous and powerful. We want you to stand up for what you believe in and we want you to make a positive impact on your families and the community.”

GTT has replaced New GPC’s Ferrol as the main sponsor of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who have made the Hero CPL final three times, but came up short on all three occasions. Guyana Amazon Warriors Marketing and Media Coordinator and Assistant Operations Manager, John Ramsingh, said the franchise is pleased to welcome GTT onboard for the ‘Biggest Party in Sport.’

“When I said a very Good Morning, I really meant it since we of the Guyana Amazon Warriors Franchise are really very appreciative and pleased to be partnering with the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company in ‘doing more’, as GTT slogan says DO MORE for not only the cricket loving people of Guyana but for the entire population of Guyana,” Ramsingh said.

He added, “We all know that Guyanese love their cricket and with the exciting matches scheduled for August this year right here at the Guyana National Stadium, our partnership with GTT is aimed at providing more information, more hype, more opportunities to get a chance to see these matches live and even a chance to interact in person with the International, Regional and your own local players, who will be here in Guyana for the four highly anticipated CPL games from August 17 to 22.”

Ramsingh further stated the partnership will see lots of promotions for fans, much of which will happen as the Guyana leg draws closer. He also pointed out that the Amazon Warriors are keen on going one step further and win the tournament for the first time in 2017.

“We of the Guyana Amazon Warriors are proud to be representing Guyana in the Caribbean Premier League and as you are aware we have done well in the tournament over the first four years of the tournament. This, the fifth edition of the CPL, we feel that it’s time to bring home the trophy to Guyana.

Champion teams are made of champions and with the likes of Martin Guptill, Chris Lynn, Sohail Tanvir and the Man-of-the-Series in the recently concluded West Indies/Afghanistan ODI Series – Rashid Khan  together with all our local home grown players who are here today, we of the Guyana Amazon Warriors know that once we instill the passion, determination, willpower and self-belief  in all our team members throughout the tournament, especially in the final, we are confident that we will emerge as champions,” Ramsingh noted.

Director of Sport Christopher Jones said the partnership to promote cricket, one sport that is a great unifying factor, falls directly in line with the government’s mandate to foster social cohesion. As he congratulated GTT on the initiative, Jones also made it known that the administration stands ready in support of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
