Farmer shot during robbery

Kumar Jeffers, a farmer was last evening (Tuesday, July 05, 2017) shot to the abdomen by bandits on the West Coast of Demerara.

The 34 year old was also robbed of a gold chain in the process.

The News Room learnt that the man who resides at Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was attacked in the vicinity of Greenwhich Park at approximately 21:50hrs on Tuesday.

The man was rushed to tge Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains and patient and is said to be in a stable condition while the police have launched a search for the bandits.

The men reportedly made good their escape in a waiting Sliver Grey Allion which bore the HC series. The victim was unable to record the numbers on the plate.

He however identifed the male suspects as being one of African and one of East Indian descent. The African man is the one who reportedly shot the farmer, according to the farmer’s account.
