Arrests made as guns found at city wharf
The Guyana Police Force Major Crimes Unit this afternoon (Tuesday, July 11, 2017) conducted a search at a city wharf where it was reported a barrel has been lingering on the wharf for a considerable period of time without the owner going to uplift same.
The barrel was at the Guyana National Shipping Cooperation Wharf.
During the search of the barrel on Tuesday, the police discovered that a motorcycle engine was in the barrel at the time. A further search of the engine revealed that it contained two hand guns.
The barrel had the name of a consignee and the police moved to that location where they conducted a search and found another hand gun.
The ranks from the Major Crime Unit are presently still at the address of the consignee and already, at least one person has been taken into custody even as the search of the premises continues.
