BREAKING NEWS; Prison Escapee caught

One of six escapees from the Georgetown Prisons was on late Friday night (July 14, 2017) recaptured on the West Bank of Demerara.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Leslie James, at about 22:50 hours on Friday night, acting on information received, ranks descended on an abandoned house located on an access dam at Canal # 1 West Bank Demerara (W.B.D.) where the suspect was located.

24 year old James indicated to the ranks that he was heading to Essequibo

He had in his possession, a knife and a few pieces of clothing.

A wanted bulletin was issued for James whose last known address is Hotoquai Creek, North West District, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, along with Cornelius Thomas and Cobena Stephens.

The men are wanted by the police for questioning in relation to Murder and Escaping from Lawful Custody during the Georgetown Prison riot.

Thomas, 31 years old is from Lot 36, Guyhoc Gardens, Georgetown.

Stephens aka OJ’s last known address is Lot 82, Gope Street, Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

Wanted Bulletins are already out for alleged mastermind, Royden Williams aka “Smallie” who was on death row for the Bartica Massacre, Stafrei Hopkenson Alexander of Laing Avenue, Georgetown and Uree Varswyke aka Malcolm Gordon.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the men, is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 229-2289, 229-2655, 274-0409, 225-6411, 225-8196, 225-2227, 227-1149, 226-7065, 911 or the nearest police station.
